Policies

How do I borrow tech equipment?

Come to the LC Information Desk with your Student ID and request the item you would like to borrow. Reserving an item in advance is not necessary, and items cannot be put on hold, but if you would like to check the availability of loanable items, feel free to call ahead at (864-) 646-1750. An LC staff member will assist you, check the item(s) out to you, and explain any relevant policies.

Please note, different equipment pieces have different policies on borrowing and use! It is your responsibility to know and understand the policies for each item you are borrowing. A staff member can answer any questions you have and remind you of these policies, and you will be sent an auto-generated check-out summary e-mail shortly after you complete the checkout notifying you of the item's return date and any other item-specific policies.

To return equipment, please have items packed up in any cases or kits they were provided to you with, and make sure all accessories and parts are included. Double-check that any work you need to save off the device has been copied to your own device and that any removable storage belonging to you is not accidentally returned with the equipment! If the item needs new batteries or a recharge, please let the librarian know when you return the item. Due dates for loanable tech vary, and lost items will incur a charge.

What is available to borrow?

All of the equipment we currently have available is listed on the next page; please click over to the next tab to see the gallery listings describing each item. We offer video recording kits with camcorders and related accessories; audio recording equipment; sound amplifiers and recorders, including wearable mics; iPads for editing and mixing media; a Wacom tablet; and finally, storage media and adapters to help your work run smoothly.

Something I want to borrow isn't listed on the next tab; do you have it somewhere else?

Don't forget to check out our Makerspace! Additional tools and crafting materials are available there! Additionally, our course reserves and in-house use items include things like study aids (including but not limited to diagrams, models, and flashcards) and recreational games that can be checked out.

And if you want to borrow something and aren't sure if we have it available, don't be shy! The library staff would be happy to answer your questions by chat, phone, or e-mail, or you can stop by and ask...and if we don't have something you want, feel free to suggest it as a purchase! We're here to help you get the most out of your education and that includes access to resources that enable or enhance your learning!

What happens if I cannot return the item?

If items are not returned or renewed by their specified due date, the item will be marked as lost or missing. A fine will be issued to your student account until the item is returned or paid for. If this hold is still on your student account at the time of graduation, you will not be able to access your official transcript until the item is returned or the fine is paid.

I am not at the Pendleton Campus; can I still borrow this equipment? Do I have to go to the Pendleton Campus to pick it up?

Yes, you can borrow all of this equipment! If you are a student on a campus other than Pendleton, you can place a hold like you would for other library materials and have the item brought to another TCTC campus for you to pick up there. Please place your hold(s) few days before you need to use the item(s), to ensure our cross-campus courier system has time to deliver the items to your campus of choice.
