Everyone age 18 through 64 who receives Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits because of his or her disability is eligible to participate in the Ticket to Work program.

Discrimination on the basis of disability is prohibited by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of
1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Title II prohibits discrimination on
the basis of disability by public entities, whether or not they receive federal financial assistance).
These civil rights laws extend to all state education agencies, elementary and secondary school systems, colleges and universities, vocational schools, proprietary schools, state vocational rehabilitation agencies, libraries and museums that receive federal financial assistance from ED.

SCCB's mission is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services and prevention-of-blindness services to blind and visually impaired consumers leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence.

The state agency that plans, develops, oversees and funds services for South Carolinians with severe intellectual disabilities, autism, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury and conditions related to each of these four disabilities. Their mission is to assist people with disabilities and their families in meeting needs, pursuing possibilities and achieving life goals.

This program was developed to be implemented as a universal system of service delivery throughout the state of South Carolina for the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. The primary mission of the program is to work toward the understanding, respect and support in securing appropriate employment for all customers.

The mission of SCDMH is to assist people in their recovery of mental illnesses. Partnerships with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (SCVRD) and Work-in-Progress, counselors and job coaches help people with emotional disabilities seek, obtain, and maintain competitive employment.

A federally funded program concerned with getting technology into the hands of people with disabilities so that they might live, work, learn and be a more independent part of the community. As part of a national network of technology-related assistance programs, their goal is to enhance independence, productivity and quality of life for all South Carolinians through access to assistive technology devices and services.
